This & That

A strange compilation of things that have been floating through my mind...

-This months IUI? After the debacle of starting late and the realization that we would be out of town without access to the lab/RE on the expected ovulation date (partly my fault for not calling the RE earlier, partly DH's fault for raising the questions as I was about to take the pills on the right day) I've been keeping my fingers crossed that I would either ovulate early or late. Early's over with, so I'm looking towards late. Sunday would be best so we could do the IUI on Monday. Otherwise we'll be working on this the old-fashioned way. It could happen. Right?

-PSLoJ (Pumpkin Spice Latte of Joy) is back at Starbucks. I have not yet indulged, I'm waiting for the perfect situation to arise (rainy dreary day with lethargy) to overcome my guilt for spending money on coffee. Quite the contradiction when I can go to Target for one thing and walk out with several non-essential items and not feel guilty.

-Speaking of which - Boots No. 7 tinted moisturizer is currently rocking my world. But it's only been a few days of use so I'm still in the honeymoon phase.

-Dealing with infertility and the choices we have to face, has really crystallized my feelings in regards to being pro-choice. As much as I want to scratch out the eyes of those women who make the choice to have an abortion to end their unwanted pregnancy, I'd hate for someone else to restrict my choice to take advantage of relatively safe procedures to get pregnant. Flame on if you must.

-Birthday? As much as I hate to admit it, my birthday is coming up on Monday. On the one hand I love getting presents, on the other I feel like the hands on my biological clock are moving faster and faster and there's nothing I can do about it. What I wouldn't give to go back and tell my younger self to get a move on with the baby making. (see: need to find a therapist to help me forgive myself for what seemed logical decisions at the time.)

-If you are wondering, items on my list include an MP3 player, a couple of sound tracks, a 2nd battery for my camera, Starbucks card (so I can indulge without feeling guilty about the cost), replacement beaters for my 1970's hand mixer (it still works, and is delightfully retro), and a couple of other little things.

-This weekend? Driving DH's Tahoe to meet him in Richmond after work where he'll leave his Mini and we'll drive to the mountain together. Still many things to gather and put in the truck before I leave with the dog. But I do have a freezer container of beef veggie soup for our dinner Saturday night, so all I have to do is make grilled cheese sandwiches to go with that. DH isn't a fan of beef veggie soup - we may end up eating out if he's up to it (I'm devious like that). I anticipate a walk or two with the dog on the mountain, time to go through the 6-months of Southern Living magazines I've accumulated, and perhaps read a book or two while DH is doing his thing Saturday and Sunday morning.

Hope you have a marvelous weekend.

  1. It could definitely still happen! I hope your weekend is filled with romantic dinners, splendid realxation, and absolutely no thoughts of your biological clock :)
