I've Been Wondering...

As Little One gets older, I'm aware that this period of bodily peace and tranquility will end, thus I'm wondering...

  • How old was your baby when your period returned?
  • Was it better or worse than before the pregnancy (you know, overall after a few months back in the saddle, so to speak) in terms of length, heaviness, pain, etc.?
  • If you breastfed your baby, had you stopped or were/are you still nursing?
  • Any additional thoughts you have on the topic?

On one hand I'm looking forward to the return, because it means, theoretically, that #2 may be possible. On the other hand, I'm really not looking forward to it at all, you know what I mean?

But I'd rather be at least somewhat prepared than caught by surprise!

  1. While I always thought it didn't come back until after you stopped breastfeeding, mine came back right when Emma turned 6 months old. And I was exclusively breastfeeding. It was pretty much the same as before getting pregnant in terms of regularity and flow. I definitely was hoping for a full period-less year.

  2. I am not BFing and still haven't started. I am enjoying the reprieve.

  3. For me it came 6 m and 1/2 after giving birth. Pretty much the same as it was before, perhaps a bit less painful. I am still breastfeeding and did not notice any decrease in production. I could have used a tad more time without. Chocolate still helps.

  4. I just weaned Aidan and have been on the Mini-pill so I still haven't had my first post-baby visit from Aunt Flo. I just went back on the regular Pill, though, so I should be getting one in about three weeks. Yikes!

Are you guys already thinking about trying for bambino numero dos?

  5. My doctor told me that I should expect a period at about 6 months (Even while breastfeeding). I've got a good friend that got it at 4 months, though. I'm certainly not looking forward to it. ug. (Although I would love to start trying for number two also, I still have 15 pounds to lose before that.)

  6. Thanks every one! I was on Depo-Provera for 6 1/2 years (6/99-12/06) and I think it totally screwed over my system. Thus requiring BCP and Clomid to get things up and running again and regulated.

I'm just wondering if there is still some systemic issues or if I'm just one of the lucky ones who doesn't get the big red back until after full weaning. I'm definitely hoping for the latter!
