10 Week Update

This morning I heard the glorious underwater woosh-woosh sound of the baby's heartbeat.

The OB I saw this morning was much better than the idiot nurse I met with last week. And I was able to express my frustration politely about the (to me) biggest issue which was her not comprehending that the timing of a medicated cycle is calculated differently than a "normal" pregnancy.

For the moment, my fears have been quieted. But I'm sure they will grow over the next two weeks as I wait for the ultrasound appointment.

Still with the nausea/morning sickness, though it seems to be easing up a bit. All drinks, excluding milk, must be iced to within a degree of freezing over (which is hugely strange as I used to loathe icy beverages). Tangerines/clementines/mandarin oranges are good - broccoli is very, very bad. And I can't forget to give a shout out to the Nature Valley Oats-N-Honey granola bars which are both settling my stomach and providing much needed fiber. Whoohoo!

  1. Nothing in the world is better than that beautiful sound and knowing that your little baby is making it. So, so, so happy to hear that things are going well and hopefully you will turn a corner soon on the sickness. Yay for little baby Higrens :)

  2. Oh, the sound of your baby's heartbeat is so beautiful and powerful and CUTE! So glad you got to hear it this time!

Trust me, you're going to be so happy you wrote about all these tiny little details (like what foods you could stand during which week) because in a few weeks you won't remember and then you'll have your archives to remind you :)

  3. Very happy for you! Receiving good news is sending your heart soaring to heights never imagined.
It is indeed weird how your tastes change during pregnancy. I cannot stand meat now. And I crave Coke, of all things. Spices makes my cookies wanna go for a ride, the figurative ones, because sweets are very unappetizing right now. I would have never thought it. But I am glad for each and every detail. As long as everything is ok, I'll take it all without complaint - and really I have nothing to complain about. ok, maybe the bleeding, but it's in the past now and my memory shrunk to goldfish size :-).

Best to you, dear. Nausea did ease up for my by 10th week and left room for hunger. I hope it happens the same to you - it's a better feeling.

  9. Awesome! What a huge relief!!! It really is so unfair that IF has made us such crazy nervous ladies when we really should just be enjoying the happiest times in our lives. Stupid IF!
