IVF#2 - Status Update

I feel like I've spent more time in doctor's offices, and in travel to said offices over the past week than I've spent at home. That may be a slight exaggeration but between the RE and the eye doc (I can never remember the difference between an optometrist and ophthalmologist, but he's the latter thanks to my family history of vision issues) I've been to the doctor 5 times in the past 7 days. After my eye doc visit this afternoon it will be six - hopefully he will be satisfied with the status of my eyes (they were shaping to the hard contacts I have to wear, thus creating a false reading for the calibration of the vision testing).

It's not just my ovaries that like to cause problems!

Speaking of my ovaries...

This mornings RE visit showed 6 or 7 juicy eggs hanging out (4 left, 2 or 3 right), just waiting to be plucked. My lining, as always, looks lovely enough to avoid Progesterone in Oil. (something for which I am seriously grateful.) According to both RE's in the practice, with the size of the eggies, I have a 50/50 chance of going Wednesday or Thursday, and it just depends on my E2 levels from this morning as to which day is the one. I'm okay either way, I finally told my boss what was going on last week and the office is fine with whatever my schedule ends up being, and my Mom has her schedule cleared to come down either day so I'll get some TLC again for recovery.

Hopefully going with ICSI this time will result in a better fertilization result than zero and I'll be able to transfer some potential when the time comes.

With that thought, I want to make clear that I'm trying not to look more forward than the end of the day, but also trying not to have negative thoughts in regards to the future. There are just too many ways that things could go wrong between now and then, and while I was surprisingly okay with the results of IVF#1, I don't want to get my hopes up too far without a safety net of reality.

Will update when I have more info on timing.

  1. Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way. Your so lucky to get to skip the POI - that's been the worst part for me And P.S. an optometrist went to optometry school while an ophthalmologist went to medical school :)

  2. Sounds great! Keeping my fingers crossed that all 7 are beauties at retrieval and that a few gate crashers show up late to the party! Looking forward to updates throughout the week! Sending super follie vibes!

  3. You're doing great with all this, I'm so glad the people around you are being supportive! Isn't it the best when moms give you TLC? Somehow everything is better when your mom makes it for you :)
