Merry Christmas!

Confession...It's 10pm on Christmas Day and DH and I are in agreement that despite all the excitement involved with the opening of presents and all, it didn't really feel like Christmas.

Circumstances...DH has a wicked cold, gifted to him a week ago by Little One; the in-laws were here without the BIL [(in)conveniently, his med situation always takes a nose dive around every holiday so he is unable/unwilling to act like a normal human being so declines to participate] and left mid-afternoon; Little One has apparently decided to change her nap schedule from morning to afternoon without alerting me or her body of that decision (today she started nodding off in her high chair at 2pm while the adults were eating lunch after refusing to nap between 11am and 12noon); in the interest of a less stressful day for me we moved the big dinner to Christmas Eve, so there wasn't any sort of evening activity; etc.

Conclusion...We need to figure out how to bring in the magic of Christmas for us as parents and not just the "kids" we still are to our parents.

How was your day?

  1. Hope you found at least a little Christmas magic. I'll tell you that I finally felt like it was really Christmas now that Emma is almost old enough to enjoy the festivities. I think next year will be even more fun.
