Warning, medical discussion ahead.
The good news is that the biopsy results showed no problems (it's nice to have one thing go right with all this). The bad news is that the low levels of progesterone found in the blood test means that I have been prescribed a supplement to help up those levels in case by some stroke (no pun intended) of luck one of my eggs gets fertilized the old-fashioned way before our meeting with the endocrinologist in May. You need the progesterone to be at a certain level for an embryo to grow.
The worse news is that this supplement is in the form of a vaginal suppository. This method ensures that the hormones get to where they need to be; an oral dose does not have the same effect. So three (3!) times a day, starting on cycle day 16 through the start of my period (or IF I happen to get pregnant until a time to be determined) I have to remember to "take" my medicine.
I'm still coming to grips with the idea myself. It took me a LONG time to get into a routine of taking my vitamins on a regular basis, and I still forget to pack them for a weekend away. This is going to be tough.

Wow...at least you know the hormones will get where they need to be. I'm sure you will get the hang of it and it a week you'll think nothing of it. I hope!!
ReplyDelete3 times a day?! Ick.I can't believe you have to wait until May just to see your RE. Why is that - are they that busy?
ReplyDeleteGood news about the biopsy results, though!
I don't think I could handle that...not three times a day anyway. I hope you get in a routine though where it becomes not a big deal, ya know?
