For all one of you who is interested (namely, me!) I wanted to report back and let you know that the measuring appointment on Saturday went very well.
The ladies came around 10am and didn't leave til after 11:30. We tossed around some complementary color suggestions and finally decided on a deep yellow (not too bright, not too muted, just right) which picks up a yellow in the mainly red, but multi-color patterned fabrics for the curtains and duvet, etc. It will be the valance / cornice fabric and the back fabric for the reversible shams and throw pillow, and the back fabric for the duvet also.
The only thing that remains undecided is the valance / cornice style. They are proposing an inverted pleat about every 10", and we're not really sure about that. It still seems very formal, but we do need something to break up the L O N G expanse across the back wall so it doesn't look like we just decided to paint a yellow stripe or something. Hopefully we will be able to make that decision tonight or tomorrow.
7/3/07 EDIT: I came home from work to a message on the answering machine from the store...the fabrics have been discontinued by the manufacturer and we can't get either one.
I am so upset, I just want to cry and throw things and jump up and down in frustration and then beat my fists on the floor while kicking it and screaming at the top of my lungs. Insert your own version of the why can't anything ever go right, I am doomed to frustration, poor pitiful me whining soliloquy here...
We are almost back to where we started which means my DH and I going back to the store and looking at fabrics again. Something tells me it's going to take more than a couple hours the next time to find something we both agree on. Sob. /EDIT
With all that needs to be done around the house, I was actually quite slothful this weekend and late Sunday night wished for a way to turn back time and have a re-do, so I could have gotten more done. Does anyone else have the urge to do things only when it is not the appropriate time to do so (ie: changing the sheets while hubby is still abed), and then neglecting or feeling unwilling to do them once one has time, etc?
One thing I do not recommend: watching The Guardian with Kevin Costner and Ashton Kucher last thing before you go to bed Sunday night. Oh my goodness, it took me forever to get to sleep, I was so keyed up by that movie. I didn't really get the ending though - I wasn't sure where it left Ashton Kucher's character.

Now all I can hear is... "If I could turn back time.... If I could find a way..." Cher...
