Here Lizard, Lizard (AKA I think I'm going to need a bigger box!)

This morning I was in the bathroom quietly minding my own business & trying to wake up after a late night of online house/rental hunting when the most surprising thing occurred which woke me up completely in a matter of milliseconds.

I stepped on a lizard. Yes, you read that correctly, but let me repeat: I. Stepped. On. A. Lizard.

We do not keep lizards as pets, we do not live in Florida or a tropical climate where house lizards are a common appearance. You can understand why I found it so surprising to have a 3-4" skink scamper hastily across the floor of my second floor bathroom after finding itself almost squished under my bath-mat smoothing foot.

Thankfully DH was still home and he was able to come upstairs and perform admirably as a lizard wrangler while I took my shower.

As for why we need a bigger box? That's because despite weeks, even months, of searching for a new home which says "this is where you are going to live" to us we have been unsuccessful.  And now that we are looking at the rental market, we are also finding ourselves unsuccessful in locating the perfect trifecta of location, furnished, & pet accepting.  So we're need that bigger box to move into once all of our stuff has been picked up by the movers and we close on the sale of our current house at the end of August.

Wish us luck!

  1. Yikes! That sounds like a stressful situation, right there. I reckon that once lizards start inviting themselves in, it's time to move out anyway. Good timing!

  2. Would you have preferred a mouse? I could send you the mouse I tried for a week to catch. And finally did last night. It was outside, on the balcony. I could send it in the left over moving boxes?! :-)
    Good luck!

  3. Ack! I would have screamed and then tripped over myself and passed out. I am impressed that you managed to take a shower. I love nature but only when it stays outside. Good luck with the hunting, I hope you find something good soon.
